5 Chicago Bears with most to gain in preseason Week 2

3. Artie Burns

The reality has set in that while eight defensive backs will make the roster, they still have one or most likely two spots where they fill in with depth defensive backs. Artie Burns is behind the eight-ball after missing the first preseason game. However, we will see just where the Bears stand on Burns in this game.

Last game it was Xavier Crawford as the top cornerback to step in behind Jaylon Johnson. Will they stick with Crawford, or was that a placeholder for Burns? If Burns is the first corner off the bench after missing so much time the Bears likely want him to make the roster. Still, it will come down to more than just playing time. He will have to back it up.

Artie Burns is right on that line where he could just easily make the roster as getting cut in the next week. This game will determine a lot.
