Chicago Bears Player No. 2: Rodney Adams, Wide Receiver

Much like the running back position, the Bears added a ton of talent to their wide receiver position along with trading away Anthony Miller. Allen Robinson and Darnell Mooney are guaranteed locks. It seems that both Marquise Goodwin, Damiere Byrd, and Dazz Newsome are near locks. After that, Javon Wims, Riley Ridley, Rodney Adams, Jon’Vea Johnson, and Chris Lacy are competing for one spot.

It’s tough because Wims and Ridley both have familiarity with the system. Additionally, Ridley has actually proven to be solid at training camp, and that he deserves a spot. It would be nearly impossible to keep seven wide receivers with their 53-man roster, but Adams has shown out at camp and in the preseason.

Adams balled out in the preseason game for the Bears leading the team in receiving yards and connecting with Justin Fields multiple times including one where he made an impressive catch over the cornerback in coverage. Like Jesse James, he’s become a consistent target of Fields.

At the very least, Adams should have a practice squad spot. If he shows out on special teams, he could possibly edge out Ridley in that aspect as Ridley doesn’t do special teams.
