Chicago Bears Players Whose Stock Fell: Damien Williams

Wait, what? How does Damien Williams make this list? Well, he did not have a good game. I know he had limited reps, but when you only gain eight yards on five carries, that is not going to get you placed on any list other than a stock-down list in my opinion. To top it off, Williams also fumbled the football in this game.

Now, I do still think that Williams is the favorite to be the main backup behind David Montgomery. He has the ability to carry the load and honestly should have been the Super Bowl MVP over Patrick Mahomes two years ago — just my opinion though. However, Khalil Herbert has looked good with his touches and could push for playing time if Williams continues to falter as he did versus the Bills.

The one area that I believe sets Williams apart from Herbert though is the passing game. Williams finished with one catch (two targets) for two yards. Herbert also had a catch (one target) for three yards. This does not help my argument, but we know Williams is a solid receiving back, we need to see how well Herbert can handle that aspect in the NFL. If he can show he has decent enough hands and the speed needed in this area, then that will not be good for Williams either.
