Chicago Bears: 5 players who have most to lose against Titans
By Ryan Heckman
Chicago Bears cornerback Kindle Vildor has a lot to lose on Saturday
The past month has been interesting for Kindle Vildor. On one hand, he has had some strong practices. Vildor has been one of the stars of training camp, quite frankly. He has consistently put solid coverage on display and occasionally comes away with an interception.
Vildor’s camp has been so good that he found himself atop the depth chart as the Bears’ second starting cornerback opposite Jaylon Johnson.
However, in two preseason games, Vildor has been less than impressive. Most recently against the Bills, Vildor was lost in coverage and missed some tackles as well. It was disappointing to watch, because fans are expecting to see everything they’ve heard about in camp, yet witnessed the exact opposite.
The one thing Vildor has going for him at the moment? Desmond Trufant has been out for a while, and there’s been no real report of what’s going on.
Still, the Bears signed Trufant as their de facto starter next to Johnson and Vildor has taken the job in camp. If Vildor continues to underperform against the Titans, he will be in danger of losing that job as soon as Trufant returns.
The least which can be said about Trufant is that he has starting experience and has played well as a starter in the past. The Bears know they have a capable starter in Trufant, and Sean Desai will not hesitate to throw him in there if Vildor continues to struggle in-game action.
