Chicago Bears Surprise Cut Candidates: Notable Mentions

I doubt any of these players are cut, but if they were they’d be the closest we would see here in Chicago to New England cutting Cam Newton.

Danny Trevathan, ILB

We have not seen much of Danny Trevathan this offseason, and with the emergence of Alec Ogletree and Christian Jones, is it possible that the Chicago Bears move on from Trevathan this year? He had a decent showing versus the Tennessee Titans, but was it enough? Brad Biggs threw out the possibility today on Twitter. https://twitter.com/BradBiggs/status/1432703629887164418?s=20

Jimmy Graham, TE

I already mentioned Jimmy Graham, but with the emergence of both Jesse James and Jesper Horsted, could Matt Nagy finally feel comfortable enough to put Jimmy Graham on waivers? This would make plenty of Chicago Bears fans angry as they would have preferred to keep Kyle Fuller over Graham and that $7 million in salary cap savings could have been enough to hold onto Fuller.

Desmond Trufant, CB

We have not had a chance to see much of Desmond Trufant this offseason either. He is currently dealing with the death of his father and as someone who lost his father less than two years ago, I can empathize with his situation. It would suck to cut him at this point as he’s going through this situation, but we all know the NFL is a ruthless business and it is possible that Trufant’s lack of ability could be his undoing. Again, I doubt this cut happens, but it’s possible.

Nick Foles, QB

Doubt it happens, but maybe the Chicago Bears can trade him today.
