We noted that Graham was unlikely to make the roster, and hoped to prepare everyone for this realization. The reality is that he was behind the ball from the start. Graham opted out last year which obviously affected his draft stock.

While Penei Sewell and JaMarr Chase have struggled to adjust after an opt-out year, they are top picks given plenty of chances to work things out. Graham is a day three pick who is trying to make up ground while also battling for his job.

NFL teams will not claim a player who was cut after no football played last season. Graham has to know that by joining the Bears practice squad he can continue to shake off the rust and develop in an area where he already was growing. Starting somewhere new would only hurt him. Expect Graham to be back in Chicago later today.
