The Chicago Bears and the rest of the NFL made their roster cuts on Tuesday, officially bringing their roster down to 53 players. Unfortunately, this is the time of year where many people who have been training their whole life, are told they don’t have what it takes.

Luckily, many of these players will get another chance and may even come back to their respective teams after IR designations and clearing waivers. For others, however, it may be the end of the road. Speculation is something that also runs rampant around this time.

Everyone and their mother releases their roster predictions and many are left surprised when looking at the list of who was cut. We all have our draft crushes and UDFA’s that we liked or even veterans that we thought would be major contributors. So let’s take a look at some of the cuts I personally didn’t see coming whatsoever.

The Chicago Bears finally have their 53-man roster, but there were surprises

Player No. 1: Artie Burns

Of all the players I will talk about in this article, Artie Burns is someone who I thought would make the team but am the least surprised about. The former first-round pick came over from the Steelers after the 2019 season.

However, Burns was forced to miss the entire 2020 season due to an ACL injury suffered in training camp. Burns is not eligible for the waiver wire and should be a name to keep an eye on as a possible resigning, especially after the Bears figure out the Teven Jenkins situation. Nonetheless, this was still a surprising cut to me.
