Chicago Bears: Four players who were surprise roster cuts

Chicago Bears Surprise Cut: Desmond Trufant hit by the ruthlessness of the NFL
Player No.4: Desmond Trufant
Desmond Trufant might be the biggest shock on this list in my opinion. His best days are certainly behind him but the Bears are desperate for a real number two CB and Trufant could’ve been just that.
As I stated earlier, Vildor and Shelley haven’t shown much so far and I think having both on the field regularly is not setting the defense up for success. This CB room is one Jaylon Johnson injury away from being an absolute trainwreck.
As I’m writing this, the team has only decided to keep four CBs on the roster. Once again, this isn’t necessarily the final 53 man roster so I’d expect someone to be brought in over the next few days. Just like Burns, Trufant isn’t someone who will hit the waiver wire so the team can still bring him back if they’d like to.
Something that was quite discouraging with this cut is that Trufant has been away from the team to be with his family due to his dad passing away earlier this month. This caused him to miss much of camp and the preseason which you could argue forced their hand to make this decision.
One thing is for sure that the Bears need to address this CB room because, on paper, it’s not looking good at all and will be a major weakness of this team right now.
