Chicago Bears player still fighting for a roster spot: Angelo Blackson, DE

This one might be surprising for many Chicago Bears fans to see. I like Angelo Blackson, but right now the Bears have six defensive linemen on the roster. However, Mario Edwards does not count towards the total because he is on the reserve/suspended list.

Edwards was suspended for the first two games of the season for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing substances. When Edwards returns, the Chicago Bears will need to make room for him on the active roster. They could choose to waive someone from another position. The team only had five defensive linemen on the roster last year but carried six in 2019. Honestly, I think it will come down to who they have available for special teams.

When you look at who is on the roster at the position, it is hard to move on from any of them. Blackson is a solid player and definitely deserves to be on a roster. However, with the likes of Eddie Goldman, Akiem Hicks, Bilal Nichols, Mario Edwards, and rookie Khyiris Tonga, Angelo Blackson is the odd man out in my opinion.
