Jimmy Graham should not be on the Chicago Bears roster
Despite the recent re-structuring of Jimmy Graham’s contract, the 34-year-old tight end does not show much promise this season. The veteran’s 2020 statistics were mediocre, and while certainly reduced by the fact that Mitchell Trubisky was the active quarterback at the time, many fans and experts believed Graham could have performed much better.
Now, with the emergence of possible breakout star Cole Kmet, Graham takes a further backseat as the confirmed TE2. His case for a fantasy tight end is further lowered by the arrival of 27-year-old Jesse James and the breakout of Jesper Horstead.
Graham’s contract restructure is helpful, but not overwhelmingly so. To pay a second-string tight end $18,000,000 seems laughable, and the Bears could have severely helped their salary cap issues by cutting him altogether.
