Chicago Bears Under the Radar Player No. 4: Sam Mustipher

The offensive line needs to come together and play well versus a very tough defensive front of the Rams led by Aaron Donald. Donald is a beast of a defensive lineman and arguably one of the best defensive players in the NFL. This Bears offensive line will have their hands full with him.

In fact, it is likely the team will need to double team Donald often, and to do that, Sam Mustipher will need to be not only used but used efficiently and effectively. Mustipher has had a nice story of working his way up as an undrafted free agent out of Notre Dame. Now, he needs to prove he hang with the big boys for a full season as he earned the starting center spot. This could be a concern since he does not have the typical size and strength needed to man an offensive line.

Chicago Bears Under the Radar Player No. 5: Trevis Gipson

Finally, the Chicago Bears will need Trevis Gipson to step up versus the Rams. With both Khalil mack and Robert Quinn on the injury report this week, Gipson will need to be ready to play more snaps than usual. Mack is probably fine, but we have seen this Quinn show, or should I say, no-show, before.

Gipson has had a strong offseason, but will it translate into the regular season? Gipson played in seven games as a rookie last year, but never got to the quarterback. This is partly because he only played on seven percent of the team’s defensive snaps. Gipson will need to make waves when given opportunities if this defense is going to make noise and do enough to beat the Rams.
