For the third straight year, the Los Angeles Rams have defeated the Chicago Bears — with this latest game ending in a 34-14 blowout.
New to this matchup are quarterbacks Andy Dalton and Matthew Stafford. Both teams brought their respective signal-callers in the hope that they can improve their team’s offenses. But on Sunday night in Sofi Stadium, it was just Stafford who raised the level of play for his offense.
The Rams (1-0) quarterback finished 20-of-26 for 321 yards and threw three touchdowns. Stafford capitalized on several blown coverages in first-year Bears defensive coordinator Sean Desai’s secondary and finished with a 156.1 passer rating — just a little shy of a perfect 158.3 mark.

Dalton, on the other hand, began his Bears career by throwing a red-zone interception on just his second pass attempt. The Bears’ next two offensive drives also ended in a turnover on downs and then a Dalton fumble.
Chicago (0-1) did end up scoring its first points of the game with just: 34 seconds before halftime. Running back David Montgomery fought from 3 yards out and stretched the ball across the end zone line for a touchdown. Montgomery finished the night with 108 yards on 16 carries.
And on the Bears’ first possession of the second half, rookie quarterback Justin Fields scored the first touchdown of his NFL carrier on a three-yard run, finishing a 16-play drive for the Bears.
The Bears failed to put up any more points after Fields’ touchdown, while the Rams went on to add two more touchdowns.

In the episode, Will DeWitt, Mason West and I discuss how Dalton played in his debut. We also share our thoughts about how Bears coach Matt Nagy used Fields throughout the game. And, of course, we express our concerns about the Bears’ defense.
There is plenty of great content in this episode, so you won’t want to miss it.
