Chicago Bears TEs: Fantasy Football Stats

Cole Kmet: 9.2 fantasy points / TE18 for the week

Despite not having a great fantasy week, there were some encouraging signs from sophomore Cole Kmet in this one. Kmet’s seven targets were tied for the second-most on the team, and he caught five of them.

The yardage was not great (42 receiving yards), but it was not great for any pass-catchers on the Bears. What I personally look for in a TE is them to be on the field often running routes, and for them to have a solid target number.

Seeing veteran Jimmy Graham have two targets to Kmet’s seven is a good sign. What needs to happen is Kmet’s yardage to go up (just like the above players) and for him to get some looks in the red zone for TDs. Only rostered in 24.9% of ESPN Leagues, I still like Cole Kmet as a sleeper TE for fantasy if he can keep consistent targets and hit a nice statistical stride in better matchups.

Bengals matchup:

The Bengals are a much easier matchup than the Rams in Week 2. Vikings players such as QB Kirk Cousins (22.04 fantasy points), WR Adam Thielen (30.2 fantasy points) and Dalvin Cook (20.4 fantasy points) had good fantasy weeks in Week 1. This brings some optimism for down weeks for a lot of the above players. Let’s hope the play-calling is better moving forward, and that we see the rookie QB for the Bears step in sooner than later who can elevate fantasy ceilings for this team.
