Chicago Bears: What exactly is Matt Nagy doing as head coach?
If Matt Nagy is still horrible at calling plays, what exactly is he doing?
This awful play call proves one thing to Bears fans — Nagy shouldn’t be in charge of this offense. He plays like he’s still working with Patrick Mahomes and not Andy Dalton. It’s year four and he hasn’t managed to get a grasp on his team.
Thankfully, Nagy does have one clear strength as head coach — he leaves the defense alone. This worked extremely well in his first season, where he led the team to a 12-4 record on the back of an elite defense. The offense, on the other hand, was serviceable. Nobody was calling home about a Mitchell Trubisky-Matt Nagy partnership, but it was enough to complement the best defense in the league.
Now, the defense is significantly worse and the offense doesn’t have a pulse. The playcalling is worse than it’s even been. Chicago added a boatload of speed and they’re still struggling to throw the deep ball, which raises an important question.
If Nagy leaves the defense alone and his offense is terrible, what exactly is he doing as head coach of the Chicago Bears?
