The Chicago Bears are going to miss Desmond Trufant
This one might be strange, but with the Chicago Bears trying out multiple defensive backs today, they clearly know they are in trouble. One of those defensive backs was former first-round pick D.J. Hayden. Hayden was a first-round pick by the Oakland Raiders in 2013. He was selected 12th-overall.
Hayden has struggled mightily with injuries throughout his career. 2015 was the only season he has started double-digit games (13). He finished with 70 combined (64 solos) tackles, eight pass deflections, an interception, a forced fumble and a sack. Outside of this season though, his time has been hit or miss.
Well, the Chicago Bears already had a former first-round pick that had an injury-riddled history. They elected to not keep him on the roster after he missed most of training camp after his father passed away. Horrible way to go out, but I bet Desmond Trufant is very happy seeing he is now on the New Orleans Saints. A Saints team that just handled the Packers with ease.
Trufant only played on 12% of the Saints’ defensive snaps, but he looked better on those snaps than any of the backend defensive backs the Bears have. He finished with one solo tackle. I’d feel more comfortable with Trufant on this roster than continuing to watch the likes of Marqui Christian.
