Chicago Bears Week 3 Fantasy Football Preview: Must Starts

The 1-1 Cleveland Browns will be a tough matchup this week. The Browns started off their first week in a tight 33-29 loss to the Chiefs and then just beat the Texans 31-21. For fantasy football purposes we will break down the Chicago Bears fantasy options into: “Must Starts” (should be in your lineups), “Consideration” (players to consider playing depending on your team need and outlook) and “Fades” (should not play this week).

Must Starts:

  • David Montgomery:

Volume is key in fantasy football, and David Montgomery is currently No. 7 in the league for total touches (carries + receptions) for the position. The Browns have a tough defense against the run, but just gave up 68 total rushing yards and four catches to the Texans RB committee who most would rate well below Montgomery’s abilities. I would project Montgomery to score somewhere between 13-16 in this one, with the game script being important here.

  • Allen Robinson:

The first two weeks were rough for Allen Robinson’s fantasy production, but you have to play him. Robinson’s average draft position for fantasy was the WR11 off the board — meaning you cannot bench the guy if you did draft him.

With a tough matchup vs the Browns, the Chicago Bears may need to utilize the pass more often to stay in the game, and with Robinson being the expected alpha in this system the targets from Justin Fields in his first start should be coming his way. Brandin Cooks just went for 78 receiving yards and a TD on 14 targets against the Browns last week for 22.8 fantasy points. Look for something similar for Allen Robinson.
