Matt Nagy and the Chicago Bears must part ways heading into 2022

The problem for Matt Nagy is that I believe his time has run out here in Chicago. Let’s be honest, it should have run out last season, but the McCaskey family has a difficult time eating coaches’ salaries. They would have likely owed both Nagy and Pace a decent amount of money to sit on their couches in 2021 should they had fired them after 2020. Because the franchise is not willing to spend more money on a new front office while paying their old front office, they are stuck.

The thing is, at this point, maybe it is time to shake things up a little. The Chicago Bears are not known to fire their head coaches in the middle of a season. In fact, they have never done so during their 100+ years of existence. Well, fans (and even media members) are petitioning that this change take place now. Do the unprecedented and fire Matt Nagy now, they say.

Well, if that were to happen, the team would assign an interim coach (Bill Lazor, John DeFilippo, and Mike Pettine are the likely candidates). If the team does move on from Matt Nagy after the season (or midseason), who should they hire to replace him? We take a look at four main candidates and a few notable mentions.
