Reviewing Jared Goff’s history against Chicago Bears
There is plenty of doom and gloom for the Chicago Bears recently but one thing that we can all agree on is that the Detroit Lions are a much easier roster to bounce back from than the Cleveland Browns. There is no Myles Garrett on defense, and beyond that, the team gets to see Jared Goff, a familiar foe.
The Chicago Bears defense has faced Jared Goff every year for the past three years. While Goff is 2-1 against Chicago, he has not necessarily been guiding his team to shootouts.
The Rams scored 24, and 17 in the wins, and six points in the loss to Chicago. Of course, that is with Sean McVay and the Rams offense, and we have seen that he has been worse with a lesser supporting cast in Detroit.
In the three games against Chicago Goff is 54-95, a 56.8% completion rate. He is creating 573 yards, 6 yards per attempt, and has 2 touchdowns to five interceptions against the Chicago Bears.
This season Goff has a 69.9 completion rate this year, with five touchdowns and two picks on 6.5 yards per attempt. For his career, he is at 63.8%, He also has 1.96 touchdowns to every one INT. With that in mind, his stats against the Bears defense is much worse than not only his career numbers but his numbers through his entire career as well.
Chicago Bears must get pressure on Jared Goff
The big issue for Goff has always been his ability to handle pressure. He does not take many sacks, but that is because he does whatever he can to get rid of the ball, and that often hurts his team more than helps. Chicago has been able to get pressure on him, and he has made his share of mistakes and poor plays against the Bears.
According to PFF, Goff from76.7% completion passer to 54.1%. He has all five touchdowns from clean pockets but has two interceptions and no touchdowns when under pressure.
The game plan is pretty simple, pressure Jared Goff. Khali Mack has a backup right tackle on him, and it has to be a game that he wins.
