Chicago Bears who must step up: Khalil Mack

Last week, Khalil Mack was limited to just under 50% of total defensive snaps and under 20 pass-rushing snaps due to a foot injury he sustained in the second quarter. Mack headed to the locker room early but was able to return in the second half. Despite his limited action, Mack still had four quarterback pressures and two sacks on the afternoon. Despite his injury, the team needs to unleash him this week.

While Robert Quinn put up a similar stat line, he did not only play 20 more snaps, but he also had more pass-rushing snaps as well. In no way is this a shot at Quinn, who has had a great NFL career, but Mack has been considered one of the best defensive players of the generation and will see his bust in Canton after his playing days are over. However, they aren’t over now and the Bears should take advantage of that.

With three sacks on the season, Mack is second on the team in that category behind Quinn. Although the Lions have only allowed six sacks on the season, the fewest in the NFL at this point of the season, Mack should still be able to wreak havoc in the backfield if he gets the snaps and opportunities.
