In a week that was filled with noise and distractions, the Chicago Bears were able to drown everything out and pick up their second win of the season, in a game that they led from wire to wire. They took down a divisional rival, the Detroit Lions 24-14
The Chicago Bears offense made some serious strides
After what happened in the team’s week three game against Cleveland, there were a fair amount of questions ranging from the offensive line to the quarterback. Not that one game resolves all concerns, but this game was certainly a step in the right direction for the unit. The Bears ran for nearly 200 yards on the ground, and Justin Fields averaged 12.3 yards per attempt. The offense was both effective and balanced, which are welcome changes to a team that has been one of the most predictable and stagnant in recent years.
The Chicago Bears defense continues to make plays
Other than the week one meltdown against Matthew Stafford and the Rams, the Chicago defense has been quite good. Khalil Mack, Robert Quinn, and Roquan Smith all had sacks and the defense forced a pair of huge turnovers in the red zone. The bend don’t break defense worked to a charm against Detroit, but the Bears will likely have to do a better job of forcing stops in future weeks. Still, it’s hard to find too many complaints with a defense that only gave up 14 points.
