Chicago Bears disappointing player No. 3: Eddie Jackson and Tashaun Gipson

This week was not the week to forget how to tackle. You’d think that Packers Week would motivate a defensive player to play harder than usual. That wasn’t the case for Eddie Jackson or Tashaun Gipson.

Gipson had multiple missed tackles, one of which resulted in an Aaron Jones touchdown. Teams that want to win every game they play can’t play defense like that. Bumping chests isn’t enough to bring down these players, specifically Davante Adams.

Eddie Jackson got lucky that there’s a sideline; otherwise, he also would have had a missed tackle result in a touchdown. For someone making as much as Eddie Jackson, his play will need to improve drastically; otherwise, the Chicago Bears could be in a world of hurt come 2022/23 and on.

The Eddie Jackson can’t tackle narrative, or at least doesn’t like to, gets blown up each week. But that’s to the fault of no one but Eddie Jackson.

If you’re going to talk the talk, you better be able to walk the walk in Chicago.

Not only did Eddie Jackson play poorly in the game overall against Green Bay, but things got uglier for Jackson once the game was over and he had access to social media.

That tweet’s since been deleted, so it’s under review on whether that was a genuine shot at Lance Briggs or if it was some in-the-moment heat that subsided.

Regardless, his play alongside Gipson’s play is what’s got them both on this list. Both of them need to make differences in games that benefit the Chicago Bears instead of the week’s opponent.
