Akiem Hicks could bring back some nice value for the Chicago Bears

Right now, Akiem Hicks is playing through a groin injury that has kept him limited in games and he also has not practiced much over the last couple of weeks. That has not stopped Hicks from being productive while on the field. He even sacked Aaron Rodgers last week despite only playing on 41% of the team’s snaps last week.

Akiem Hicks is in the final year of his contract and his return in 2022 is up in the air. With this in mind, moving him now might be what is best for the Chicago Bears. Hicks has mentioned he would like to return, but without an extension in place at this point, it’s not likely he gets that extension.

Hicks has 1.5 sacks on the season and has been one of the most dominant defensive linemen in the NFL since joining the Bears in 2016. A team that is fighting for a playoff spot could look to bring in Hicks. Maybe a team that needs help on defense like the Tennessee Titans or even the Los Angeles Chargers.

Moving on from Akiem Hicks might look like the team is giving up, but the team has had success without Hicks and it’s possible they look to bring in help at another position instead of just a draft pick. Or, the team could even make more than one move by trading Hicks for a draft pick and then use the extra pick in a corresponding trade to bring in a player from a selling team like the Miami Dolphins for example.
