We are about to find out how much Matt Nagy means to this team from a game managing standpoint. It was announced yesterday that Matt Nagy has not been able to clear COVID-19 protocols and was unable to travel with the team to San Francisco. Matt Nagy does not know where he will be watching the game from today, but the one thing we know for sure, it will not be on the sidelines.

Chris Tabor will be the acting head coach today in Matt Nagy’s absence. Not having Nagy will be interesting as he is on the hot seat in most people’s opinion outside the organization. The only thing that matters is if the Bears will be able to bounce back after a horrible loss to the Bucs in Week 7, to beat the 49ers today.

Bears Injury Report vs 49ers Week 8

The Chicago Bears are lucky enough to get Robert Quinn back from the reserve/COVID-19 list, but as soon as they get one pass-rusher back, another one is taken away. Khalil Mack has been ruled out with a foot injury and could be out for even longer. There are talks he might be put on short-term injured reserve.

On a positive note, Akiem Hicks was a full participant in Friday’s practice and is on track to return versus the 49ers. He is listed as questionable. Tashaun Gipson, who was out last week is also listed as questionable after being a limited participant all week with a hip injury. Larry Borom was also activated from IR this week.

These other players are questionable and likely to play. The list includes:

  • Jakeem Grant (ankle)
  • Sam Kamara (knee)
  • Jesper Horsted (knee)

The 49ers are in worse shape than the Bears in regards to injuries. The following players are all out for San Francisco today:

  • Azeez Al-Shaair (concussion)
  • Dee Ford (concussion)
  • Maurice Hurst (calf)
  • Javon Kinlaw (knee)
  • Jaquiski Tartt (knee)

The 49ers also have their starting left tackle, Trent Williams listed as questionable with an ankle and elbow injury.

Bears vs 49ers Odds, Spread, Over/Under, & Betting Pick Week 8

WynnBET’s Week 8 NFL odds have shifted since the beginning of the week as they went from -3.5 point underdogs to -4.0. This has to be more about losing Khalil Mack than it does not having Matt Nagy. However, it does speak to how WynnBET and others feel about Nagy not being a big factor on Sunday. If this was say, Sean Payton not being able to coach, I have a feeling the line would shift a full point.

The Bears Moneyline also became a little better in my opinion and moved to +180 from +145. These odds are enough to entice me (bet $100 to win $180). The 49ers Moneyline is -210 (bet $210 to win $100).

The over/under did not change and is still 39.5. I am sticking with my prediction of 49ers: 21 – Bears: 14, however, with so many 49ers defensive players out, I could actually see the Bears sneaking a win out today too. Looking at other odds for other games at WynnBET, I’d honestly not even bet this game.

Bears Next Game and Schedule

This is going to be a must-win game for the Chicago Bears. The team cannot afford to fall to 3-5 on the year with how tough of a schedule they have the rest of the season.

Here’s a look at their schedule for the next four weeks:

Week 9: @ Steelers
Week 10: BYE
Week 11: vs Baltimore
Week 12: @ Lions
