The Chicago Bears need to address the wide receiver position

It might seem like the Chicago Bears need to address every position outside of quarterback and outside linebacker heading into 2022. On paper, the team will have plenty of holes to fill — especially from a depth perspective. However, the team still has key players in place at many positions other than just quarterback and outside linebacker.

Wide receiver is a completely different situation. Going into 2022, the Chicago Bears will only have Darnell Mooney on the roster. Allen Robinson is not returning and the rest are on one-year deals. There are some solid receivers slated to hit free agency and hopefully, the Bears are able to land one of the better ones.

The 2022 NFL Draft is also an area that needs to be used when addressing the wide receiver position. This team also needs to add a receiver by using either its second or third-round pick.

If the team can bring in a free agent wide receiver like Chris Godwin, then a later-round pick could be used on a WR3. However, if the team has to look at a free agent like Michael Gallup, then I’d like to see them use their second-round pick, which is also their first pick in the draft, on the best receiver available. Wide receiver might be the biggest area of need heading into 2022.
