The Chicago Bears need to address the defensive line

These are not necessarily in order, but wide receiver and safety should definitely be the top-two positions of need for the Chicago Bears. Should Akiem Hicks and Bilal Nichols go without contract extensions, then the defensive line will definitely need to be a priority.

Khyiris Tonga’s 2021 performance has been great for a seventh-round draft pick. Still under contract in 2022, the Bears will have Eddie Goldman, Mario Edwards, Angelo Blackson and Tonga. Hicks is a big part of the defensive line’s success, but due to multiple injuries the last few seasons, we have seen that the defense is still able to perform without Hicks.

Looking at defensive linemen who are about to become free agents in 2022, there are a solid number of options available. It will depend on how much the Bears are willing to spend at specific positions, but building in the trenches on both sides of the all is important.
