The Chicago Bears head into their bye week at 3-6 and on a four-game losing streak after their loss on Monday.

The Chicago Bears had a shot at redemption in their second primetime game of the season against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday night. Early on, it looked like the Bears were going to be humiliated yet again, but the Bears battled back to and took the lead late in the fourth quarter. Although the Bears came up short, the flashes shown from Justin Fields was enough for fans to be excited about what they saw.

The Bears offense looked good

The Bears offense that had been stagnant and inefficient since the start of 2019 was nowhere to be found in the second half. Fields made a series of deep throws to Marquise Goodwin, Cole Kmet, Allen Robinson, and Jimmy Graham. According to Pro Football Focus, Fields finished the game with a career-high 291 passing yards and was the highest-rated quarterback in week 9.

The defense once again disappointed

After years of the Chicago defense being repeatedly let down by the offense, the tides have turned the last couple of weeks, with the short-handed Chicago Bears defense failing to get stops down the stretch. The losses of Khalil Mack and Eddie Jackson were evident, and Sean Desai’s bunch couldn’t do enough to stop the Steelers.

The Bears will be off this week before hosting the Ravens on the 21st
