1. Cadence

One thing that Matt Nagy noted when considering sitting Justin Fields for an entire year this summer was his cadence. He said that Patrick Mahomes came from the Big 12, where they did not huddle, and things were silent presnap. Mahomes had to learn to call plays in the huddle and make calls, sets, and changes at the line.

Justin Fields heard Nagy say that and said that he was already working on his voice before offseason OTAs. it has shown because Fields has already had a few times where he caught the defense with his presnap cadence.

While the refs did not throw the flag Fields did get the Packers to jump offsides, and he had a huge 3rd and 1 offside drawn against the Steelers.

These are veteran plays, and the ones that Nagy wanted to be patient with. Fields is showing that he is already ahead of schedule. He makes big passes, he thinks the game well, and he is making veteran passes and decisions.

From his first start in Cleveland to today, the growth has been notable.
