Chicago Bears Player to Build Around No. 5: Larry Borom

The last offensive player on this list is Larry Borom. After the 2021 draft, I might not have put Borom on this list, but now, he might be more important than second-round pick Teven Jenkins. Borom has looked very good despite limited reps for a fifth-round rookie.

Borom has only started the last two games but has had to deal with the likes of Joey Bosa and T.J. Watt — two of the best pass rushers in the game. Watt was able to get to Justin Fields and come away with three sacks, but Borom only allowed one of them. In fact, he’s only given up one sack thus far.

Something about Borom just looks right. He looks to fit the bill as a solid, all-around blocker. His mechanics are very sound and I’m surprised he fell to the fifth round. He has looked solid at right tackle, but I’d feel comfortable if the Bears had to move him over to left tackle too. In fact, that might be his future as he is physically just as able to play on the left side as Teven Jenkins. Either way, the Bears need both to succeed in 2022 and beyond.
