With six games to go, the Chicago Bears are in the hunt for a playoff spot, but any realistic Bears fan does not think they have what it takes to make a run. Instead, fans realize that they have six games left of the Matt Nagy era at most and that there is not much to be excited about over this next month.
While it is fair that the Bears are not competing for a Super Bowl, the games still matter for a variety of reasons, and you are going to see plenty of players show up as if the season is on the line.
These five players may be worth following more intently than others.
5. Alec Ogletree
Alec Ogletree was once one of the higher-paid linebackers in the NFL. It was a fast fall for him, and he did not have many offers at all this offseason before signing to play with the Chicago Bears. The move has been for the best as he got unexpected playing time and has been able to make a statement.
Ogletree was expected to be insurance for Danny Trevathan, but Trevathan started the season on the IR and was placed right back on the IR before ever taking his starting spot back.
However, while Ogletree has fended off Trevathan, last week, he was in a platoon with Christian Jones. Of course, when Roquan Smith left the game, the team played Jones beside Ogletree. Either way, if Smith is healthy, Ogletree can prove himself next to a star. If not, Ogletree is clearly in line to take the most snaps at linebacker of the team. This is a big month for him.
