2. Sam Mustipher
Some players are looking to earn a bigger paycheck. In the case of Sam Mustipher, that is on the line, but so much more as well. The UDFA who excelled down the stretch last season is not doing nearly as well not that he has a full season of tape out there.
Teams are starting to attack Mustipher, and he has not necessarily been on the same page as rookie Justin Fields. Mustipher is a free agent at the end of this season, so there is a lot on the line for him.
Still, he will get a contract, the question is whether it is to be a backup or starter. For Mustipher, he was always most likely to stick in the NFL as depth. The Bears gave him a shot to start, and he has not done well.
Of course, every teams needs a center, so if Mustipher can perform down the stretch, he may get another starting chance. On the flip side, if he does not play better, these last six games may be the last that he is guaranteed to start.
