The Chicago Bears and Allen Robinson have been going through a messy divorce. Robinson is on the franchise tag, and if his social media or his agent’s social media have anything to say, he will not be back in Chicago next year.

With five games to play and Allen Robinson missing the past three with a hamstring injury, you really could argue that he may not be back to playing with the Chicago Bears at all.

To start, this is a week-to-week hamstring injury. No one is calling Allen Robinson out for not trying to come back from this injury. However, it is mysterious and can be up to whether he feels the hamstring is loose enough to go on game day.

With that in mind, the Chicago Bears did not put him on the injured reserved. They obviously should have, because Robinson has not played since the Pittsburgh. That means that he had a week off for his bye week, then missed the Ravens, Lions, and Cardinals.

Considering the IR is a minimum of three weeks, they could have used his roster spot for a player who actually was going to get practice reps, and potentially could play on game days.

Still, the Bears not placing him on IR may show that they are not sure how to handle his injury. They do not believe it is a season-ending event, but he has been out for a month and counting.

On the side of Robinson, it may help make him more money if he does not come back. His stats have been bad, and the quarterback situation is not going to get fixed overnight. He does not need long-term reps with Justin Fields, but his agent can sell that he tried to play a game or two with the hamstring, but with all of the flux in Chicago, he decided to get healthy for the offseason.

If Robinson goes out and is healthy and has poor stats the next five games, he has no excuse, but if he does not suit up, it will sway teams to the idea that he was banged up and will be fine with the extra time off.

It is hard to find a reason for him to want to return. The Chicago Bears seem to be playing it week-by-week, but ultimately are leaving this up to him. That makes it tough to see Allen Robinson active the rest of the way.
