A camp favorite of Justin Fields deserves to be back with the Chicago Bears

The Bears addressed their tight end group in 2020 by drafting Cole Kmet and signing Jimmy Graham. With Graham likely gone in 2022, the Bears will be looking for tight end help again. That’s where Jesse James steps in.

James has spent his NFL career with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Detroit Lions before joining the Bears. He soon began growing a connection in camp with Fields, as they were both a part of the second-string offense over the summer. Fields even credits that time in camp as to why he feels comfortable with James out there.

While he certainly hasn’t been very productive, James plays well in his limited role and, similar to Goodwin, has a strong connection to Fields. Consistency is important as Fields continues to grow and develop. James would likely be a cheap addition and a nice piece for the Bears offense should the team decide to bring him back.
