Injuries and depth needs should present Alec Ogletree with another year

Alec Ogletree signed with the Chicago Bears this summer, and a productive offseason earned him a roster spot. With injuries plaguing players such as Danny Trevathan and Roquan Smith, Ogletree could be considered a cheap option to return for depth reasons.

He hasn’t been great this season, but the free agent class for middle linebackers in 2022 isn’t great either. Ogletree can always be brought back as a camp body who doesn’t make the roster, but he at the very least offers special teams value and a player on defense with a high motor.

Ogletree has also proven that he has the ability to make some game-changing plays. He was a beast in the preseason. That didn’t completely carry over into the regular season, but he has made his presence known at times. Ogletree should not be counted on as a starter in 2022, but as a solid depth piece, it makes too much sense.
