When it comes to the Bears receiver position, the 2022 outlook is very thin in terms of depth. The team will have Darnell Mooney back as he continues to play on his rookie contract, and they’ll have 2021 sixth-round pick Dazz Newsome, who has been on the practice squad all season. With Allen Robinson likely to test free agency, the Bears will have to once again address their receiver core. Trading for a solid option should be on the cards for the Bears.
Why should the Bears trade for a wide receiver?
The argument could absolutely be made that the Bears shouldn’t trade for a receiver. Currently, the team only has five draft picks in 2022, and they’ve already spent a 2023 pick to acquire Jakeem Grant.
There are a few reasons why the Bears could at least consider this route. The Bears will have plenty of cap space, but that money could go towards addressing other positional needs. There’s also some hope the Bears will acquire a few compensatory selections in the draft, and they can use those to relinquish traded picks.
The goal of the receivers on this list is to find players that can play to the strengths of Mooney and provide quarterback Justin Fields with some weapons in 2022. Whether it’s a “true” WR1, or just a solid piece with a lot of potential, these are four receivers the Bears should trade for.
