Brandin Cooks would be a fine addition to the Chicago Bears if made available

Brandin Cooks has been all over the league, playing for the New Orleans Saints, the Los Angeles Rams, the New England Patriots and currently the Houston Texans. Many speculated that Cooks would be moved at the trade deadline, but the Texans declined all rumors.

If the Bears wanted to trade once again with the Texans, Cooks could be a solid option. His deal will void and make him a free agent in 2023 however, so that is worth monitoring. However, his cap hit is roughly $12 million for 2022, which is cheaper than what most 2022 free agent receivers are projected to make this offseason.

Despite a scuffled quarterback situation in Houston, Cooks has made the most of his situation. He has 80 receptions for almost 1,000 yards in 2021, averaging 11.8 yards per reception. His speed and explosiveness would pair in a fun way with Mooney, and it’s likely going to cost a day 3 draft pick or two.
