Chicago Bears fans want to know for sure Ted Phillips is moving out of his role

We have been screaming from the rooftops for this to happen for a couple of years now. Ted Phillips can no longer be the man who oversees the football operations of this organization. The team can easily move him into a business operations role that has little to no effect on the football side of things.

There have been rumors that Ted Phillips would step aside and that Trace Armstrong was one name the team was considering as a potential President of Football Operations. I’m not opposed to this idea as Armstrong has many connections in the NFL as a coaches’ agent. He also obviously has football knowledge in a way that Phillips and George McCaskey never could.

The problem I have with Armstrong is that he seems like a bit of a mild-mannered guy off the field. Is he going to bend to Phillips and McCaskey’s will even though he shouldn’t have to based on the title of the position he’d be stepping into? Some people are even saying that Ryan Pace should be involved in the position as he has helped bring the team into the current century with the Halas Hall remodel and other various changes.

We will once again look into some potential options on who should replace Phillips. We touched on it last year, but a few other names have popped up that are worth considering. For now, Chicago Bears fans just want to know that a change is happening and well, that the right change is going to take place. This is the key for an organization that hasn’t been consistently relevant since the 1980s.
