The Chicago Bears put together a dominant 29-3 victory over the New York Giants on Sunday for their second straight win and sixth on the year.

The Chicago Bears have been on the receiving end of lopsided losses multiple times this season. But Sunday was a welcome change, as they flipped the script, winning in by a score of 29-3 over the Mike Glennon-led Giants.

Offensive MVP: David Montgomery

Picking an offensive MVP for this week wasn’t as easy as one might think. The offense just wasn’t asked to do very much. The defense was able to generate some early turnovers, and the offense capitalized on the short fields. From that point on, it was cruise control. David Montgomery led the way with a team-high 81 yards from scrimmage and two rushing touchdowns. It was far from his best showing, but Montgomery got the job done and has held down the role of feature back since returning from injury.

Andy Dalton had a bit of a mixed bag completing 18 passes on 35 attempts for 173 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. Even in such a dominant win, the Bears’ passing attack looked stagnant and inefficient for the most part. Darnell Mooney led the Bears in receiving yards once again with 69.

Defensive MVP: Trevis Gipson

Second-year Edge rusher Trevis Gipson continued to turn heads on Sunday, with two sacks, both of which forced fumbles recovered by the Bears. It’s hard to think of a more impactful performance from a Bears defender this season. This week’s performance puts Gipson at 32 total tackles 4.5 sacks on the year. Gipson was responsible for half of the team’s forced turnovers, as Teshaun Gipson Sr and Deon Bush both recorded interceptions. Playing a quarterback of Glennon’s caliber certainly helped, but it was one of the unit’s best performances of the season.

As great as Gipson was for the Bears pass rusher, the big story of the game was Robert Quinn breaking the franchise single-season sack record with his 18th. Quinn’s record-breaking season won’t be forgotten by Bears fans anytime soon and should give him some votes for this year’s comeback player of the year award.

The Bears will head to Minnesota to take on the Vikings in their season finale next week.
