Could Chicago Bears tempt Jim Harbaugh into NFL return?
While the Chicago Bears have technically not moved on from Matt Nagy, all of the signs and speculation points to the team moving on from him less than a week from today. That will open a whirlwind of rumors of who will take what will be looked at as a prominent job.
Aside from Chicago being a huge market, the team finally has a quarterback. Is it time for the Chicago Bears to take a big swing?
Sources at the Athletic seem to think so. They seem to think that Jim Harbaugh is on the shortlist of must interview candidates for their next head coach.
While the article mentions the Chicago bears, it also says that the Raiders would be a fit that would intrigue Harbaugh. The Raiders have a quarterback in Derek Carr, they have a huge market in Las Vegas, and they have money to throw around.
They also are in need of culture in the worst way and would be willing to go overboard to bring in Jim Harbaugh.
Of course, the Chicago Bears pull is that the team drafted him after he went to Michigan. It would be perfect timing for him to make his second jump from Michigan to Chicago.
Still, one thing worth thinking about is that the Raiders need the culture that Harbaugh brings much more than Chicago. Chicago needs an offensive mind, and someone who can be new school and creative with a mobile quarterback.
Harbaugh is an old-school, tough-minded coach. There is nothing wrong with that but you have to wonder if the Raiders and Bears get into a bidding war whether the Chicago Bears would keep up due to the Raiders being more desperate for his coaching style.
Either way, this is going to be a huge development over the next week. Harbaugh just had his season end and Nagy is just six days away from hearing his fate. Things could start moving very quickly by this time next week.
