2. Matt Eberflus

Matt Eberflus has been with the Indianapolis Colts since 2018 as their defensive coordinator. Before that, he was the linebackers coach in Dallas from 2011-2017. Eberflus is an interesting story because he was hired by the Colts as part of the Josh McDaniels staff. McDaniels left him out to dry, but Frank Reich let the coach stay and coordinate his defense.

The decision paid off so far. The Colts have turned a corner in a big way under Eberflus, and this year is really showing. He has always played a bend but does not break style, but this year the Colts are adding more turnovers.

The fact that Eberflus has a wide range of coaches that he has worked with, and was so adaptable in a bad situation gives you faith that he can put together a strong staff.

Beyond that, he has been in the NFL since 2009 and may finally be ready to step into the head coach ranks. At the very least the Chicago Bears are expected to give him a call for an interview.
