The Chicago Bears will be hopeful that Emil Ekiyor falls to the fifth round

Of all the roster areas the Bears will need to fix, the offensive line is by far the most important. It’s not difficult to say that having a high-end offensive line is the most important position group in football. Even with an elite quarterback, they can’t produce without an offensive line blocking, take Patrick Mahomes in the Super Bowl for example.

The Bears will need to improve in this area if they want Justin fIelds to hit his entire potential. However, the team seems bound to lose James Daniels, their best offensive lineman, in the offseason. They’ll need to add talent in order to continue to produce.

It is possible Alabama’s Emil Ekiyor Jr returns for his senior season, but if he declares he brings experience, talent, and versatility to the table. At Alabama, Ekiyor has been the team’s starting right guard since 2020 and has held that spot since then. He has experience at both guard positions as well as center as well.

The question marks around the Bears’ front offense and coaches will need to be resolved first, but the team will then need to solve James Daniels’ contract. If the team lets him walk they’ll then have even bigger issues along the line. Tevin Jenkins and Larry Broom could offer upside on the outside for the future, but the team will need them to step up as well.

Ekiyor will have a great chance of proving his upside against a strong Georgia defense that likely features multiple 2022 first-round picks.
