There are a number of compelling reasons for the Chicago Bears to keep Ryan Pace in their organization. What has gotten overlooked the past seven years during Ryan Pace’s time as the Bears general manager is this: Pace’s biggest value has always been his in-depth knowledge of how the Saints built a winning team with an excellent offense. He was part of the Saints organization since 2001.

Sean Payton became the Saints head coach in 2006, which means Pace worked with Sean Payton for nine years. This would be more than enough time for a smart football person to learn how Payton and his general manager built a winning NFL franchise. In addition to this, there is ample evidence to conclude that Matt Nagy very much sabotaged Pace’s efforts to build the Bears into a winning team with a very good offense.

There are reasons why the Chicago Bears should consider keeping Ryan Pace

Nagy, being the architect of the Bears offense and play-caller for the vast majority of the last four years, saw this play out endless times. He would put round pegs into the square holes of his offense and vice versa. His ridiculously, off-the-wall play calls in critical moments often seemed to distract and or discourage his players’ belief in carrying out plays Nagy called. Nick Foles was even more than a little angry on the sidelines during games last season because he didn’t like Nagy’s play calls.

The Chicago Bears head coach consistently would not use players young and old in situations suited to their talents. Instead, they sat or were ignored on the field. This was all quite counterproductive to create a winning team from players Ryan Pace acquired.
