The Chicago Bears old man for hire

Now is the time for Chicago Bears to give me “stuff” about Ryan Pace. I have told you all that I will support Ryan Pace until his time is done in Chicago. I am, however, a supporter of moving on from him. The first few seasons were a rebuild for Ryan Pace. I warn Chicago Bears fans that this next GM might have a similar situation of needing a year or two to get the team right.

Speaking of general manager, I need to get this off my chest; Bill Polian is old. Age is just a number. Does it feel that the Chicago Bears and George McCaskey are repeating their mistakes of 2015? Possibly. The Chicago Bears’ advantage now with Polian and McCaskey is that the errors were already made in 2015.

In theory, McCaskey should know what not to do. The roster for the Chicago Bears is bare, but it is far more talented and younger than the 2015 team. Polian does have a good resume and has been involved with the NFL in some capacity. Many believe that he is dated, hasn’t had direct ties (management) with the NFL, and doesn’t understand the draft (Lamar Jackson) well enough anymore. Just because the man is 79 years old doesn’t mean he doesn’t know anything about football.

Besides, he isn’t the next Chicago Bears general manager; he is just helping find the next GM for the Chicago Bears. Since we are well off point, let’s talk about the Lamar Jackson comments:

Yes, Lamar Jackson was an NFL MVP at quarterback. Yes, Bill Polian said Lamar Jackson is a wide receiver. Many feel that is enough to prove that Polian doesn’t know what he is talking about. But was Polian wrong? We won’t ever know the truth unless Jackson pulls a Terrelle Pryor. I want to bash Polian for claiming that Jackson is a receiver, but he might not be wrong.

Jackson has enough speed and agility to rush for over 3,600 yards. Does Lamar Jackson’s passing open up his rushing ability or vice versa? Alright, enough of that stuff, The Chicago Bears will have about 25-26 players on the active roster with around $43 million to spend. The next GM will have their work cut out for them.
