Chicago Bears: Round 3, Pick No. 71

Another major need for the Bears in 2022 is cornerback. Coby Bryant out of Cincinnati would be an excellent fit alongside Jaylon Johnson.

Bryant’s teammate, Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner, stole the show for the team’s secondary, overshadowing the solid year that Bryant had. It may have even helped him, as teams were more inclined to target him more. His 2021 season included 34 solo tackles, eleven passes defended, two forced fumbles and three interceptions. He started his collegiate career being considered undersized but managed to put on loads of muscle.

His experience is impressive, with 49 career starts under his belt. He has a good technique in man coverage and a strong awareness when playing zone. He isn’t the fastest player, and he certainly isn’t perfect, but if the Bears want a potential day one starter in the secondary, Bryant in the third round would be a steal.
