2. Can Jacksonville Jaguars fix Secondary issues?
The Jaguars’ defense is below average, but at times their run defense was able to come alive. They ranked 20th in EPA against the run but ranked 31st against the pass this year. They need to see some help from their pass rush, but Josh Allen had his best year yet, and K’Lavon Chaisson is a former first-rounder who has been a rotational rusher. They found Duwane Smoot in the mid-rounds, and have Roy Robertson-Harris, Malcolm Brown, Davon Hamilton, and Jay Tuefele all signed in the interior.
With all of the other needs on their roster, the Jacksonville Jaguars should focus on the back end and not the front. Shaq Griffin stepped up at times on the outside, and while Tyson Campbell was up and down, they moved him around a lot, and the rookie found himself at times on the outside.
At the cornerback, it is obvious that they need to focus on the slot. At safety, they have Rayshawn Jenkins but need to replace Andrew Wingard in the worst way. Lastly, they have Myles Jack, but he is carrying a big salary. They probably cannot move on from him, because they are desperate for a name to step in beside him.
They need a versatile safety, slot corner, and coverage linebacker on defense.
