1. Top-down decisions for Trevor Lawrence

There are questions about Justin Fields, but Trevor Lawrence had just as poor of a rookie season. You can point to organizational failures, but there are issues for Lawrence to improve on. For Fields, his rushing ability gives him a floor that buys him time as a passer. Lawrence has success with his legs, but not quite like that.

Below, you can see a list of the quarterbacks that are most similar to Lawrence.

There are a few successes, but obviously plenty of concerns. Even Sam Bradford and Carson Wentz were number one overall picks, and that list is filled with first-round and top ten picks.

Derek Carr, Josh Allen, and Ryan Tannehill are all reasonable first-year comparisons for Lawrence, but that is not where their fans wanted him after one year.

This will all come down to the GM-HC combination. Trent Baalke appears to be in place as GM, which makes the HC pool more limited than a team like the Chicago Bears. While fans will be pulling for Lawrence to come around and be a generational-type quarterback, it is hard to trust that after the first season.
