Chicago Bears: 3 Justin Fields stats to get excited about
As the Chicago Bears continue their head coaching search, they continue to have a desirable job this year mainly because of Justin Fields. Fields did not set the world on fire during his rookie season, and it has some media members comparing him to busts. However, his rookie season also compared favorably to Josh Allen and should have some head coaches wondering what they can pull out of this talent.
The following three stats could be reason enough to make this an attractive job, as the team has a skilled quarterback heading into year two.
Justin Fields is a big-time thrower
Pro Football Focus charts big-time throws, as throws that go beyond the basic responsibility of the quarterback. These are the throws that set the performers apart from the game managers. In this area, Justin Fields ranked fifth.
The top 10 could be a mistake for a list of the 10 best quarterbacks as well with Kyler Murray, Jameis Winston, Aaron Rodgers, Joe Burrow, Russell Wilson, Josh Allen, Matt Stafford, Derek Carr, and Tom Brady all cracking the list. Winston may be high, but he has a small sample and was with Sean Payton.
Beyond that, these are the big performers. Fields sits at 6.1%, which is below Burrow at 6.2 and tied with Wilson. For comparison, last season Mitch Trubisky was at 3.9, and Nick Foles sat at 5.2. Neither has the dynamic big-play ability that Fields does.
