As we get ready for the Chicago Bears offseason we will look around the rest of the NFL and see what other teams’ free agents may be available and what teams will be bidding with them for acquisitions. The Detroit Lions had a worse record than Chicago, but some seem to have a better feeling about their trajectory after last year.

What are five things the Detroit Lions must answer this offseason?

5. Who is healthy and coming back in their secondary?

The Lions lost Jeff Okudah to an Achilles injury in week one. He was a former top-five pick but was drafted under Matt Patricia. He had a poor rookie season and his second year was derailed by injury which makes him a giant question mark for year three.

The Lions lost Ifeatu Melifonwu in week two, but he did come back for the final three games of his rookie season. Still, they hardly learned much about their rookie. Those two going down made Amani Oruwariye the top dog with little depth behind him. Perhaps he could be better depth, but he was in over his head.

Jerry Jacobs emerged at times, so you could squint and say that the Lions have four corners. However, all four have their own set of questions heading into the offseason.

Lastly, is the discussion around Tracy Walker, who has been one of the best Lions over the past couple of seasons, but also is now due to some big money. Will he move on, and leave them with another hole in their secondary? This is a group that could go two ways with bringing everyone back or adding some big names to fill holes and push the names staying down to depth.
