4. Indianapolis Colts

The quarterback position got spicy in Indianapolis after Carson Wentz had a meltdown and the team lost their last two games to slide out of the playoffs. Wentz was dealing with COVID, but the reality is that he was not playing above-average beforehand. He was just getting his team by.

Chris Ballard spoke around committing to Carson Wentz, but with the cap and draft picks given to him already, you would have to imagine he will be back. The big thing for the Colts would be to add a backup who could push him, or at least be competent if Wentz got hurt and missed time.

Early in the season, they needed Wentz to come back from ankle injuries because they had no good plan B. If they have Andy Dalton, perhaps he starts for two weeks, the team is better for it, and Wentz comes back healthy. Perhaps Dalton wins one of the last two games as Wentz gets back from an illness.

It is easier to turn to Dalton in that spot than Sam Ehlinger. That is what the Colts have to be thinking this offseason.
