The Chicago Bears have not yet hired a General Manager, but all thoughts are that the role will be decided this week, and they will swiftly move on to hiring a head coach. While they have been interviewing GM candidates, they also have been talking to a couple of possible head coaches.

Reports are that 11 head coaches interviewed for the Chicago Bears job. Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated seems to think that the following three head coaches have emerged above the rest. It makes sense when you break it down.

3. Jim Caldwell

The Chicago Bears are using Bill Polian to run this search, so nobody at all should be surprised when they hear that Jim Caldwell is one of the top candidates for the job. Caldwell worked under Bill Polian and the Indianapolis Colts from 2002-11. He moved up from the quarterback coach, to the offensive coordinator, to the head coach.

He did not work out as head coach from 2009-11, but he did get another chance in Detroit. Some fans will point to his Detroit time and say he is a failure, but to this day he has the best seasons of Lions football in well over a decade.

He made the most of a bad organization, that thought they deserved more. Either way, since then he has done well as an offensive coordinator both in Baltimore and Miami.

His relationship with quarterbacks may be as much of a selling point as his relationship with Bill Polian.
