Chicago Bears GM Candidate: 6
Monti Ossenfort – Titans, Director of Player Personnel

When I look at my picks number five and six, I look at them as a tie. It would be a coin flip for me between Monti Ossenfort and Eliot Wolf. I find the reputation and the specific experience of Wolf slightly better than Ossenfort, but again, think of this as a tie and both would be on my shortlist.

Ossenfort is currently the director of player personnel of the Titans. He has plenty of experience with the New Englandd Patriots where he spent time as a national scout, assistant director of college scouting and director of college scouting. He was a part of four Super Bowl victories.

Prior to New England, he spent time with the Houston Texans and Minnesota Vikings. He is originally from Minnesota and if given the opportunity, I’d guess he’d pick the Vikings over the Bears.

Eliot Wolf – Patriots, Players Personnel Consultant

Eliot Wolf has an interesting background, however his current job title is a little strange to me. What is great about Wolf though is his experience throughout the league and the fact he’s been around the NFL his entire life. Not that others haven’t in their own ways, but Wolf is the son of former Packers great general manager Ron Wolf.

Wolf spent his early career working for the Packers as well. He started as an assistant in 2004 and worked his way up to director of football operations in 2017. He was passed over by the Packers in their GM search, but it did not take long for Wolf to find new work. He spent two years as assistant general manager of the Browns and is now a players personnel consultant for the Patriots. I would expect that Wolf could build a pretty special staff to work in both college and pro scouting.
